John Legend “Show Me” Song

by Deone on October 11, 2012

john legend

John Legend artist, musician, and actor; happens to be one of my favorite artist of all time. On this post I wanted to share one of my favorite songs performed by him. Take a listen by clicking the link below.

I love songs with meaning, that possess powerful words within them. The kind of music that not only brings pleasure to the ears, but also causes us to reflect and think about our place in the world. I love a song that I can apply to life, so much so that in the back of my mind while the song plays, my life plays out as the video. This song to me is one of John’s most powerful ones, yet there are still plenty of other ones that he has on his resume of hits. I do hope it moves you just as much as it has done for me time and time again. The title of the song is “Show Me.”

Once you have taken a listen, I’d love to hear what you think the song means to you?

Be Kind... Share. :)

That was wonderful Deone!

Honestly speaking, I had never heard about John Legend earlier than now. But I am glad I heard him out here and he sure is wonderful.

I guess there are some kind of songs that touch you somewhere and this also seems to be one of them. It has a deep meaning to it too, something that I like in the songs I hear, beside the soothing music.

Thanks for sharing and bringing music to my ears. :)

I’m so glad you enjoyed it, Harleena!

It’s even better that you’ve never heard of John before. I know when I first heard him, I had to run out and get every album he’s ever made before. You’ll find that he has a wide selection of hits to choose from that have deep meaning and passion.

If and when you’re able to listen to another one, be sure to let me know what you thought of it. :)

Thanks for stopping by and having a listen. :)

I love this song — and you already know I love me some John Legend!! His songs are always to real and to the core — I really wish that more artist that are out now had this kind of connection to the craft of music. It’s the connection that makes the music so beautiful. ~Thanks for sharing this one Deone! :)

Of course, I’ve already told you this… but, it bares to be repeated here. You and your website was the inspiration in my choosing a song that moves me on RMT. So, I’m glad this was one that you enjoyed. Thank you for providing the inspiration.

I’m with you… I wish more artist would provide us with more meaning and less beats. It’s probably the main reason I don’t buy much music these days. It seems more like a gamble than it does a purchase to support your favorite artist. People want to know that what they’re purchasing is worth them giving their monies too. I know I do. :D

You’re welcome. Thanks for stopping by. :)

This song resounds with me. Maybe it’s a song I want to sing. I do see the magic in every single day. I see the beauty abounding.

And the only prayer I ever utter is that of gratitude. I never ask for help or for my dreams t come true. I jsut accept what comes. There are days I feel lost and days I feel strong. I guess that means my faith falters. Because on those good days I feel sure. On a bad day, I feel an elephant sitting on my chest. There’s one there now. And I know it’s because I am feeling fear. I also know that beneath it is my authentic core. There is only love.

Thank you for sharing, Deone. You are such a bright spark. xo

I can certainly hear you singing this one, Shelley. It’s totally a spirited song, in my opinion. And yes, you’re just that to me.

That’s a great place in life to remain, my friend. In gratitude. When we pray and seek the needs of others, we quickly learn the meaning of life and begin seeing it unfold for ourselves. We also begin noticing how our good days outnumber and outweigh our bad days. Feel the elephant and let it pass. That’s what I’m learning these days. When we allow ourselves to feel these things, we give them also the permission to pass through us.

Simply embracing the simplicity of life, while enjoying ever moment of the journey. :)

Thank you as well for shining brightly for all to see, my dear friend.

That seems to be a great song (Well, it is!).

I don’t usually listen to music (that would be a lie, I do when I am driving to college, but other than that, I don’t). Most songs these days tend to be meaningless (they just focus on the tunes). But, there are songs like these – that has real meanings (I didn’t fully grasp the meanings, I am still thinking about it :D ).

But, so far, I think the song is about thanking everyone, is it? and of course, life in general (the themes such as poverty, I think).

Anyways, thanks for the music, Deone!

Awesome song, Jeevan! :D

I agree with your reasoning for not listening to much music though. You’re absolutely right… many songs don’t have much depth to them. That’s why I only listen to music that move me to think and reflect.

I usually don’t try to give people what their interpretation should be, so I’ll just ask that you give it a few more listens and return to let me know what your take away is.

I look forward to hearing what you come up with, my friend. :) Cheers.

Thanks for sharing Deone.

I’ve heard of John Legend but that was the first time I heard this song.

I love when music can talk about more inspiring and important messages instead of how miserable they are or how their boyfriend is cheating on them.

You’re always one of the more open bloggers I know and I like you for that.

Hope all is well and good luck with your book.

Hey Bryce,

I’m glad you were able to finally hear a song from John Legend. If you enjoyed this one, there are many others I’m sure you will find enjoyable as well.

I’m with you, I prefer music that inspire me. Being a lover of words, I am very selective about what I feed myself, and a song certainly has to have meaning in the words for me to recommend it to anyone else. That’s part of the reason I’m not that much of a fan of most rap lyrics; I can’t seem to follow the meaning of what most artist are saying… or what they’re trying to convey. And I certainly don’t want to hear about anyone cheating, killing, or how angry they are about what’s occurring in their lives. That goes for any genre.

I have a love for most genre though. There’s not much that I don’t get into really.

Thanks for the compliment, mate. That means a lot!

And thanks for the well wishes on the book as well. It’s been quite the journey, but I can now see the finish line. YAY! :D

Great reading you hear man. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts on the selection. :) Cheers!

Hi Deone,
Firstly, a big thanks to you for introducing me to a new singer, I haven’t heard of him of late. The song is captivating, it touched my soul. I like such songs who leaves an impact on me and give me a thought to ponder upon. Some songs have such lyrics that you actually pay attention to each and every beautiful detail of the song. This is such a song. Thanks for the share.

Hi Aayna,

A great BIG, YOU’RE WELCOME, my friend. :) I totally agree with you. Songs that cause us to ponder and reflect are the greatest ones out there. Although there aren’t many of them of late, it’s still awesome that there are those (like this one) that we can reach back to for reflections.

I’m glad you to read it was a moving one for you. Awesomeness! :)

Thanks for sharing you insights on it also. :) Cheers, my friend.

Music has such power, legends like John Lennon and other greats have actually created peace movements and inspired the world with their lyrics. Thanks for sharing this with us-i had a listen to it with my son and we both loved it very much.

Hi Dipa,

You’re absolutely right! I miss those days when music caused those types of movements. When the words of a song moved a person to act, based on what the artist was trying to convey in the message. There needs to be much more of that these days.

I’m glad it was a enjoyable melody for you both. Your son has great taste! ;)
