From as far back as I can remember it’s been clear to me that my vision and goals in life have been to become a writer.
Every single experience of my life has led me to this moment.
It was easy for me in the past when I wasn’t actively working towards my goals, to blame my circumstances and things I’ve endured in my life as being the reason I never went after my dreams before; but the truth of the matter was that I simply didn’t have a clear vision of what I needed to be doing to make them a reality.
Another thing that kept me from becoming a writer was the fact that I wasn’t applying the fuel of action to my dreams.
In other words, if an individual wants to become something, they must first actively do something. In my case, if I wanted to be a writer, I first had to write something… anything; I just needed to buckled down and get something on paper… or more like a Word Document. But I digress.
As life continued to happen and I begin to see myself and the real world in which I live with a brand new perception; I guess you can say I had a wakeup call concerning how I would go about chasing my dreams and changing my life path.
I realized that the vision needed a bit more clarification and detail from me. The goals needed to be set and expressed in such a meticulously way that my mind would begin to adopt it as being factual, and no longer a dream.
The action that I would need to take would be that like the Code of Practice that I mentioned in the post a couple of weeks ago titled, “The 7 Keys of Greatness.”
So today, I want to share with you ways to clear one’s vision and great quotes that back them each up.
I don’t believe these quotes only apply to becoming a writer though, but each of them can be applied rather to any facet of our lives.
Steps and Quotes to Assist the Clearing Up Process
Know what you want to accomplish.
“When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.” ~Jim Rohn
Define in great detail your strategy.
Good plans shape good decisions. That’s why good planning helps to make elusive dreams come true.” ~ Lester Robert Bittel
Take “yourself” out of the picture.
“The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own. No apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on, or blame. The gift is yours – it is an amazing journey – and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.” ~Bob Moawad
Stay positively hopeful that what will be, will certainly be.
“One always looking for flaws leaves too little time for construction.” ~Lewis F. Korns
Ask a lot of questions.
“Successful people ask better questions, and as a result, they get better answers.” ~Anthony Tony Robbins
Apply some giddy up to you to your dream.
“High achievers spot rich opportunities swiftly, make big decisions quickly and move into action immediately. Follow these principles and you can make your dreams come true.” ~Robert H. Schuller
None of us ever knows what the future holds for us, but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t plan for it. Right?
Going after one’s dream isn’t necessarily about wanting to become wealthy and famous; it’s simply about knowing what’s available to you. What could you accomplish with the right mindset and proper use of resources, gifts, time and practice dedicated to your craft?
I think the possibilities are endless!
It’s about figuring out whatever it is you truly want out of your life and then asking yourself, “How badly do I really want to have this?”
No, you don’t have to sell your soul to the devil to follow your dreams.
But, you will have to sell the idea of a clear vision to see them come into fruition.
Now, I’m turning it over to you.
If this post has moved you in any way… please join in on the conversation by sharing your thoughts below. Your feedback could be the very aha moment that will assist someone else in following their dreams.
Do you also believe it’s of great importance to have a clear vision in chasing ones dreams? What, if anything would you add to the clearing up process? Steps? Quotes?
I’d love to read your thoughts.

Love the point about asking better questions. Not only do successful people ask better questions, but they ask more questions. It is easy to fall into the trap of thinking, “If I ask questions people will think I am stupid and don’t know what I am doing.” The truth is, that if you aren’t getting your questions answered, you aren’t learning new material. Your organization isn’t growing and getting better because you are so scared of looking bad that you won’t ask real questions on how to get better. (Sorry if that sounded negative.) Asking questions can be the key to unlocking great success! I recently wrote on asking Why you do things in your organization. The same could be said for our personal lives. Why do I do things the way that I do them? Is that because it is the best way? Or just because I haven’t asked the question before and there are many better ways to do it?
Great post as always Deeone! Keep bringing on the awesomeness!
Burl recently posted this awesomeness..Start Making Memories!
Absolutely Burl! It’s the only way that we will learn or get better at whatever our craft is. We can’t possibly know everything about everything, so what we can’t learn or find on our own; we should certainly approach someone who is more knowledgeable or experienced in that area of expertise more than we are on the topic.
I totally agree with you that asking questions can be the key to great success. I used to be extremely bad about asking questions. Whenever I did in the past I would always get the wrong response or one that I wasn’t expecting. So for the longest time if I didn’t know, or needed something; I just wouldn’t know or went without it until I could fill the need myself.
I learned through blogging that it’s all in who you ask and how you ask. That’s been my lesson. What has been your experiences in asking questions? Has it always come easy for you? Or did you have to train yourself or get trained to do it better?
Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..Clear Up Your Vision
Never claimed to have it down Deeone! (Laughing as I write this.) I guess I learned from my students though. I always say “The only stupid question is the one that you don’t ask.” Then I asked myself, do you really believe that? The other thing that led me in this direction was the realization that while new employees often ask lots of probing questions, after the employees have been there for a while in any industry, they quit asking. Much of my experience with this is in churches. People who come every week or who work in the church don’t notice the same things that a new person does. One idea that works is to ask a friend who doesn’t go to church to come “evaluate” your church…offer to take him/her to lunch afterwards, and then listen…don’t defend. They might tell you all kinds of things you didn’t expect. The same could be done with a business. Hire a temp worker…then have them evaluate part of your business after their first week. You might get some surprising feedback that will make you tons better!
Burl recently posted this awesomeness..Why you should start speaking English!
That’s a ton of wisdom there, bud. You’re right, though, it’s all in asking the right ones, and listening to the answer. Not defending it, because sometimes we miss things; not because we don’t know or anything like that. We’re unique individuals with unique perspectives, and most of the time other people will point out things that they caught that we might have missed. I definitely agree with you on that one. I do plan on doing more of that in the future. Asking people to evaluate my progress or get their opinion on material or what not. Sorta like a progress report, if you will.
Thanks man, I really appreciate you getting back with me on those questions.

Deeone,
You know you always amaze me with your new insights and how clearly you share them. I know your desire…no dream…nope..DESTINY to be a writer is burning inside you and you are taking so many perfect steps to align yourself with that goal.
I too have been shift my thoughts and thinking as of late..but you already know that
Things are becoming clearer for me and I know a big part of my dream is to be a professional speaker and to inspire people. I get how it can be confusing and feel muddled at first until you find the tools to take the steps. It was actually a huge deal for me to acknowledge that fact along. Once you see that first step it’ can be job just overcoming the fear of actually getting what you want!
You don’t need to see the top of the mountain in order to take the first steps to reach the summit now do you? You just need to start climbing (yes I’m referencing one of your songs lol )What you find once you get there might even be different from what you imagined but you have to know it’s going to be spectacular even so.
I know you will succeed Deeone, I also know that you are prepared to do what you have to to get there. Time for me to go do something to start on my steps! You have inspired me once again to get going already.
Much love
Bonnie recently posted this awesomeness..When I…then I…
It REALLY is, my friend. I’m blessed to have found my calling and also to have this opportunity to put it forth into action. I would be foolish to let this chance slip away… as I was for many, many, years before ever starting. I was literally letting the gift slip out of my grip… it was time to clear up that vision.
I can totally see you as a professional speaker. I think that you just the voice for it too. I remember that first video I saw of you, I think it was around Thanksgiving, if I’m not mistaken. I felt as though I was a proud father, watching his baby girl walk across the stage of life.
Figuratively speaking, of course.
So what else are you doing to make that a reality for yourself? I know that you’re a teacher, right? Do you find that teaching helps you prepare for professional motivational speaking.
I must admit, that actually intrigues me as well. To be honest with you, that’s the only reason I created my YouTube videos, so that I can practice getting better at public speaking. Granted the camera is far from public speaking, but the idea of many in public seeing it is kind of similar.
Have you spoken public before? How was that for you? Were you nervous? Or did it come with ease?
Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..Clear Up Your Vision
hi ya Sweets,
Yes I am a teacher, and it does help a little but speaking on stage is so different. I did one speaking engagement but it was a tele summit and I was not thrilled with the outcome. The whole thing threw me for a loop, there was no feedback! lol It was a lesson for sure. I think I got better near the end but the start was really weird!
Aww…thanks about the video. Funny how it was you who kicked my butt into gear and got me from I should and I want to do a video to ‘just do it already’ mode. lol And here we are again. As for nerves, of course. But not the bad kind that make you shut down and run away and stuff. More like the excited “I can’t believe I”m freakin doing this’ kind of nerves. Sort of like what you feel when you are next in line at a really awesome rollar coaster. Maybe thats why I like it? lol
What else am I doing? Well, I am actually looking for an active toastmasters group. Active being the key. That is one step. I will do another video soon also. I have to find a better set up than what I have…perhaps outside might work better.
I’d love to speak to some smaller groups and get a feel for it but I am at a bit of a loss on how to get started…one of the reasons I’m looking to Toastmasters.
You are fantastic on camera. I was thinking you’d be amazing if you did some interviews…so have such a way of setting people at ease. (gosh I’m not subtle am I?)
Whatever you do Deeone, I know you’ll ROCK it!
Bonnie recently posted this awesomeness..When I…then I…
The important part I think is that you got the lesson out of the experience. That’s always my fear when I have opportunities such as that one; I’m not so much afraid of failing or messing up. I’m more concerned on whether I’ll grasp the lesson from the failure for the next opportunity.
I think you’ll pass the next experience as a speaker with flying colors!
I know exactly what you’re talking about when you describe “the feeling”; I have certainly experienced it myself a time or two. It’s gotten a lot easier standing in front of the recorder for me, but I’ve found that most of my time is going towards the upload and setting up of the video than anything else. Not difficult, just time consuming. I’ve been thinking of holding my videos off for awhile. Or at the very least not as often, not until after my other projects are completed, at least. That way I can shave back days of being finished.
I took a look at the message you sent me of Toastmaster, and it definitely looks like something worth considering. That will definitely be getting put on the “Must Do” list.
I must admit though you cracked me up with you subtlety. I think that’s a marvelous idea. I think that we should discuss that further, for sure. I’ll hit you up tomorrow so we can discuss that ingenious idea further. Maybe you have some ideas you’ve been throwing around. I’ll jot some down as well. We can maybe bounce them off of one another. Who knows maybe even Skype.
It’s well overdue, don’t you think?
Hey, thanks a lot for the feedback. I really appreciate it.

Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..The Shocking Truth About Taking Chances
Oh wow I so totally GET what you are saying about the lesson. Honestly sometimes I think the universe is just screwing with me and then suddenly clarity. I see what I need to practice or what I need to let go or grab onto.
The key sweetie is staying open which of course is really tough sometimes when the world seems to be out to kick you when you’re down. It’s just not the case. Always there is something to learn from what you are doing or should be doing to stand in your own truth. It can just take time and the right mindset to see it.
This is where I struggle lately. I so terribly want to stamp my feet and yell and sometimes I even feel entitled to be pissed off. And that is where my lesson is today. This is normal, okay and perfectly human. Just don’t wallow in it.
After having a lot of negative, angry people in my life I’m having to choose my words and attitude carefully when dealing with problems. I got sucked into the habit of get your defenses up first and get ready to be mad for a while. How does that help anything??
I seriously can picture you chatting on camera with someone about their life story and their release. I am certain it would be powerful stuff to watch.
Bonnie recently posted this awesomeness..Stop Right There
Great post, Deeone. One to add to the list may be “ask for help when you need it.” To often, we feel like we are imposing so we try to go it alone. Asking for help provides another perspective in addition to the little boost that may be needed. Maybe this old Danish proverb applies – “He who is afraid of asking is ashamed of learning.” Thanks! I am so glad that you have found your goal at last or know what you have been looking for. I guess even a small or single step towards a journey that you knew you had always wanted to take up is success to me. Small steps taken towards your goal is what makes the journey enjoyable as well.
Loved your list of quotes- I know like me- you too are fond of them- guess they add so much more depth and meaning to a post. The best one that I could relate to is – “When you know what you want, and want it bad enough, you will find a way to get it.” ~Jim Rohn- There are no ifs and buts!!
I guess at the end of the day, if you truly know what you want or have been wanting and work towards it with all your heart and mind- there is nothing stopping you from achieving success.

Oh yes, I’m an absolute lover of the quotes. I don’t start my day without reading a chapter of one of the books I’m reading at the moment and then scanning a page of quotes or mantras for the day. Hey Deeone!
First, I HAVE to meet you in person some day to see whether you “talk” as much as your comment!
And whenever I am here, I am just under so much pressure to write a great long mini-post comment because I know you might have so much more to say. You know, if you actually combine your comments, you can make a good amount of posts by them!
Now before you kick me out, I will actually comment!
Having a clear vision is probably like the basic needs of life. One has to find out what they moving towards and what they really want from it by the end of it all. Clear vision for me not only means clarity of thoughts, it hold within itself the clarity of judgments, the ability to think what is right and wrong for yourself and the strength to actually make that happen. We can go on in life thinking we do not want this, knowing what we actually want but never actually moving towards it. There is no point in clearing up your vision but not acting towards it.
Take the plunge, move on and see where it takes you. Make decisions with that clear head of yours, some decisions might be tough, some might be a little confusing, but once it is worked out, it will bring a lot of satisfaction!
When you clear your vision, you not just open your eye, you open your mind and that makes for a great learning experience!
Thanks for this Deeone! It opened my eyes all bright and shiny!
Have a lovely weekend!

With all of that being said, I’m more reserved in person, and much like my commenting system, I only talk when I’ve been moved to do so, inspired, or if I have something pressing to say. Otherwise, you’d probably have to make sure I’m still in the room or check my pulse to see if the heart is still a’pumpin.
I’m slowly breaking away from my introverted personality.
Now, I do have a sense of humor though, but usually don’t share it until I’m really familiar with an individual or somehow feel comfortable with them. Having a sense of humor isn’t for everyone, and mine can be a bit much if the person isn’t the laughing type. I believe you’d pull it right out of me though, if we were to ever meet.
P.S. I’d never kick you out, my friend. It’s good to laugh! Wouldn’t you agree?
I loved your thoughts on the post as well. I think you’re right on the money about not going into clearing ones vision if action isn’t intended to be proceeded behind it. That’s so very true!

Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..The 7 Keys of Greatness: What makes the Great great?
Fantastic post, Deeone!
The word purposeful has been in my vocabulary a lot lately, because I know to achieve my goals- to live a great life- I need to be purposeful in life. It’s not enough to put in the work, I must do the right things, the intentional things to get the results I want.
Some years ago I barely knew where I wanted to eat for dinner, let alone what kind of life I wanted to have. I had goals, sure, but I had not really given much thought to actually achieving them. I was too busy living.
Life started to get good when I started being clear about what I wanted, and took small steps in that direction. It didn’t happen overnight, but it happened.
I can’t say I have everything I’ve ever wanted- I don’t believe that’s possible- but I’m happy with what I have and I’m creating a life that is meaningful to me.
Thanks for the awesome topic!

Mark Zuckerberg said that the road to success for him based on 2 things:
-Being absolutely clear about what we want.
-Building a great team (B.C Forbes used to emphasize the importance of teamwork as well)
Tony Robbins says we need to find a strong enough reason “WHY” we want the things we’re after.. If we have a strong “WHY” than we’ve found something that is eternal, everlasting which gives us drive to follow through.

I would totally agree with Mark, Akos! I never really considered until starting to blog though, just how important having a clear idea of what we want to produce in life really is. I believe that both of the things you mentioned M. Zukerberg saying, not only fits on our road to success, but also towards any aspect in our lives, in general. Don’t you think so?
Of course you know, I’m loving the part that Tony had to say. Knowing “WHY” we do anything will assist us in producing the results we want each and every time. Just as not knowing will continue to have us missing the mark every single time. It’s amazing how the simplest changes in approach can make the world of difference in whether we succeed in life or not.

Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..Thank your Doubters
Hi Deeone,
It’s been too long since I have visited here so it was good to come back and read this post. I loved reading your personal thoughts, your wisdom and all your well chosen quotes too.
Sometimes I think we make too much of the word “vision”. It’s not that it’s not important, it is, but by definition it excludes something which deserves equal attention.
Yes we have to be able to envision what we want but more importantly we have to feel ourselves being whatever we desire before it comes to pass too. This is the vibrational reality that must exist before the actual reality can manifest with ease.
I remember asking my grandmother when I was very young how would know what it was I came here to do. She said,
“One day you will fall in love. You will know you have fallen in love because you will feel your heart smiling endlessly in a way you will not have experienced before.
Your smile will be so large that you will continue to feel it even if the world was to end on that day.
When you feel the same feeling about something you have an inclination you came here to do, you’ll know that it’s what you came here to do.”
Just as when we first fall in love we are unstoppable so it is when we know what we have come here to do.
I can sense that you have that feeing about being a writer Deeone so nothing can stop you!
~Marcus
Hi Marcus,
It’s always great to see you here, my friend. It doesn’t matter to me how long it’s been since your last visit. It’s a pleasure whenever it happens. So thank you for stopping back through and for sharing your thoughts here with me on the post.
I truly enjoyed reading what you had to say about it as well. You made awesome points.
It’s just as important, if not more, to be able to envision what we want as it is the vision itself. If we can’t see it happening for ourselves first, then it simply will not happen. I heard the motivational speaker Les Brown once say, “Sometimes you have to believe in what other’s see (the talent they see in you), until the faith in yourself catches up with it.” So there’s simply no excuse, is there?
I absolutely loved what your grandmother had to say about how we will know what it is we were meant to do. I can truly relate and agree that we know when we’ve found our calling, when everything around us and within us, aligns and falls right into balance with one another. It’s a feeling of relevance that is undeniable, and you sense right, my friend, I truly have that feeling she mentioned about my writing.
I am delighted to know that my love for what I do is able to be seen by others. Thank you for sharing your lessons and wisdom with me. I’m extremely appreciative.

Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..The Shocking Truth About Taking Chances
Hi Deeone,
It’s great that you knew early on that you wanted to be a writer. Such early clarity of vision is immensely helpful in determining the direction to take in life. As you rightly point out, every single experience in our lives lead us to the role we were meant to fulfill. It is just that we may not be consciously aware of this role early or we may choose to deny it.
I like the quotes and steps you have shared to clear up our vision. Clarity is vital to leading a meaningful life. Here are some of the thoughts that came to mind as I read through them.
Define in great detail your strategy. Unless we plan carefully for every contingency we can think of, life has a way of surprising us with events. While we might be able to roll with some of the punches, others can knock us down and derail us from our journey. Being prepared is the key to success. We may not be able to foresee everything that happens. But at the very least, there are fewer things that can happen which will surprise us.
Thank you for sharing this lovely article!

The Vizier recently posted this awesomeness..How to Lift Your Mood Quickly
Hi Irving,
It really has helped me in determining my direction in life having clarity about what I want to come into fruition. With age, the vision has become clearer and clearer with each passing day.
I find that many people aren’t mindful that the reason the things they want to come to them will never come, is because they aren’t honest with themselves on the clarity of their vision.
It becomes more easier to look at what has or has not worked for those connected to them, or listening to people who don’t have a clear vision themselves. Both will only render them the same exact result of the individuals they watch or have been listening too.
I really enjoyed your thoughts on the quotes and steps! We have to be mindful that things don’t always go as we’d like or as planned. As we get clear about what we want, we must leave room for life to happen. Great point! With distinct preparation towards our goals comes the ability to squash the element of surprise, for sure. I couldn’t agree with you more, my friend!
Thank you for sharing on this man. It’s always a pleasure to hear from you.

Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..Releasing My Mindset
Hi Deeone,
I’m a firm believer also that if we want something bad enough, then we will get it. Your dream was to be a writer. And here you now are living your dream!
When we want something bad enough and we see the broad vision we want, the next step is to fill in the details and do what needs to be done to realise our vision. If we’re constantly thinking of what we want, and our attention is on it, and the intention of our activities is on our vision, then we will get what we want.
Around 7 years ago I went on a management training course and did a personality test which tells you what profession your characteristics were suited to. I came out as a coach. Since then my attention has been on helping others with detailed focus, and this is what I’ve ended up doing. It really does work.
Hiten recently posted this awesomeness..Forgiveness is a key ingredient to freedom
Good day Hiten,
Absolutely, my friend! We simply need to understand how badly we want something. When we know how much we want what we want, we’ll do whatever it takes within reason to go about getting it; without having to compromise our integrity or values.
I’m so glad that you mentioned “do” in realizing our dreams. Many would believe that all we have to do is want it. But wanting it, isn’t enough, is it? We must put our shoulder to the wheel and push that thing into play. Action is the ingredient that makes impossible, possible.
If you would have only taken the personality test and left it at knowing that you were suited to be a coach, nothing would have come of it. But because you put the effort behind the knowledge this took you to a entire new level. Now you’re doing exactly what you believe is meant for you to do. I love your inclusion of quotes in this post, and I have one to share with you from Jim Rohn. ” If you don’t design your own life plan, chances are you’ll fall into someone else’s plan. And guess what they have planned for you? Not much.” We must have a clear vision while going after our dreams. If we don’t, then how will we know what steps we need to take in order to reach that dream?

An amazing post as usual.
For me it the most difficult part was to understand that it was and will be always my choice. I alone have the responsibility to shape my own life. No matter what kind of scars I carry, I have learned to let them go in order to make place for new experiences.

I absolutely believe in what you said about the importance of starting. One of my favorite sayings from the music world is, “No more talk about it–we’re about to BE about it!” I was one of those people who would talk and talk; and dream and dream, but would always cop-out when it came to the act of ‘doing’. The line above has “pushed” me to starting so many of the goals that I wanted to achieve and the things that I wanted to do. And yes, you must have a clear vision to achieve any of that, which brings me to another favorite saying of mine, “You’ve gotta see it before you see it, or you never will see it.” Having a clear vision and a “focused focus” will definitely get you to your desired place in life. To have it–and to keep it–is hard work but it is very worth it in the end. Great post!!

Yes, Makeba… the hardest part is certainly starting. As soon as we get over that hump it’s all up hill from there. Isn’t it?
I loved the sayings that you shared here. Both of them reminded me of my “cop-out” moments. I too used to be a really good talker, and when it came to the doing part I would allow my fears and insecurities to win the battle. It always used to seem so hard for me to follow through with what I wanted to do. I know now though that it was mainly due to the fact that my vision wasn’t clear enough for me to actually see it come into fruition.
Once I cleared my focus on my goals I was able to better grasp what needed to be done in my mind. And we both know that’s where all the magic begins… our minds.
Thanks for sharing such empowering thoughts on the post, my friend. I most definitely agree with you that our hard work will definitely be worth it in the end.

Carolyn recently posted this awesomeness..Looking for Love on Facebook?
Hey there Carolyn!
Thanks! I’m glad that you enjoyed the post.
You’re absolutely right. I’ve found myself in many ventures, but my first love has always been writing. Next to writing I’ve always had a love for interior decorating, and still believe I will dabble in it before it’s all said and done. Both of which I had managed to convince myself for many years that I could never become either of them, because I didn’t have the formal education that I needed. It didn’t matter to me that I was pretty good at both of them, my fear of not being trained, ruled my way of thinking and ultimately won the battle. At least until I looked at them differently.
I credit my partner mainly for changing the way I begin to look at my writing; he’s so incredibly supportive. He continually told me that I didn’t need a degree to do what I wanted to do. He would go on to say that all I needed was the belief that I could do it. That support from him, the lost of my mother (who also was a wonderful writer), and my beginning to retrain my way of thinking; each of those things pushed me to go after what I really wanted in life.
Much like you said, I realize that I had no more excuses. I took the responsibility that you mentioned also, and started working on becoming better, by any means necessary. It hasn’t been easy to change the way I look at things, and I still struggle with my confidence in my writing as well; but I am beginning to see my hard work paying off. I no longer allow the lack of confidence I had to deter me. I’ve learned to use my weaknesses as tools to get better.
Since taking that approach to my work, each day I see my growth developing more and more. They say practice makes perfect, right? Therefore, we can only continue practicing to become our best. I imagine you feel or have felt the same way, because I see your excellence each time I visit “The Wonder of Tech”.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on this post. It’s truly always a pleasure to see you here.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and yours as well, my friend. Cheers!

I’ve actually thought of that a lot lately. I would tell myself to take a chance and to use my gifts. I would tell myself to stop second guessing myself and believe in what I know to be true. I would not spend time wasting it on relationships that I knew weren’t heading anywhere. I would dream big, in vivid color, and not stop until my dream came into fruition. Most importantly, I would connect myself only to people that celebrated me and not tolerated me.
But you know what, I would not be who I am today had that guy not made every single mistake that he had to make. And for that I’m actually grateful.
Awesome question! I can’t wait to get over to Adrienne’s site now.

Have an amazing Thursday!
Deeone,
I love quotes! They are my favorite way to learn. Simple, unobstructed words to live by.
I am not necessarily a visual person. Meaning I learn more through doing. So when someone told me to visualize my goal, I didn’t understand. Then they clarified. Picture yourself at the goal. For instance, I am trying to be more fit and lean, I actually have to picture my arms and legs leaner and stronger. For you, actually have a picture in your head of you writing. I can see it.
It’s not good enough to see my dream of smaller clothes or less food on my plate, I actually have to see me doing something.
Is that what vision is?

You know, Allie… You are growing on me already!
I absolutely love your online persona. I am the kind of person that can actually feel a person’s personality just by the written word, and from what I read through yours; I can tell you are a very genuine young lady. In the online world, that’s HUGE! So thank you for the connection and for being such a wonderful individual.
I’m like you, I LOVE Quotes! I love words… and when an individuals put words together and they cause inspiration, motivations, and empowerment in the human spirit it literally does a number to my inner spirit. I love even how you described them, “Simple, unobstructed words to live by.” LOVE IT!!
I’m actually a hands on type of individual as well. I’ve learned over time to better visualize those things into existence, and it’s really taken some getting used too. I also believe wholeheartedly that our words carry just as much power as the visualization does. Meaning, instead of saying “I am trying…” go for saying, “I am more fit and lean.”
Putting things like that into word tells your mind that you mean business and also convinces it that you are actively doing what’s necessary to make it happen.
For example, I used to say that “I wanted to be a writer.” I was listening to a Denis Waitley series and he said there are key words that we say that our brains pick up and listen too. Words like “want”, “try”, “can’t”, “if” and “but”. I had to learn how to eliminate those out of my vocabulary and start expressing words like, “am”, “can”, “will”, and “do”.
It sounds simple, but it’s far from being simple. It definitely requires effort on our part. I’m still getting training my mind to do what I want it to do and not the other way around. When I slip up… I do not beat myself up about it. I acknowledge it and move past it.
I’d say that you’re doing exactly what you need to do. Keep it up, and I believe you will see the results you want in no time.
Congratulations in advance, btw!
I know you’ve got it in the bag. Way to go!!

Deeone,
I am touched by what you said about me. Thank yo so much. But I can say that the author can usually bring out the best of a commenter. What you write touches me. I usually come online and read about blogging and social media, it can get dry. And then to come here and read what you write, I get inspired. You really make me think.
You make a great point. I have heard to eliminate “want”, “try”, “can’t”, “if” and “but”, especially but. “I can do 20 pushups BUT I bet I won’t tomorrow.” Can simply be changed to “I did 20 pushups!” You know, it is just taking the complicated out and creating more simplicity in how you think and speak.
When I dropped those words I also started to look forward to my workouts. And I am not just referring to exercise, I use the same philosophy in everything I do. It is a hard transition sometimes but I feel better in my relationships for it.
Thank you for you insight.

The feeling you expressed motivates me to keep doing what I am doing. So thank you so very much for letting me know that. I really appreciate you sharing such kind sentiments with me.
Ridding my vocabulary of such words has probably been the hardest thing in my life I’ve ever had to do. I never took notice before how much it was apart of my daily speaking practices. I had to come to realize just as you said, that it’s simply taking the complication out of choosing my words more wisely. Say what I mean and mean what I say.

Another wonderful post by you Deeone and thank you for sharing your insights with us.
I never had a clear vision of what I wanted. Even when I first ventured online I didn’t know what I wanted to do. I didn’t understand all the things you could do and I never really thought that I had a desire or a passion. I later learned through lots of help that my true passion was just helping people. I know that sounds so generic because it’s not like I’m an expert in giving advice. I think a lot of it has to do with my common sense and just being able to put things in a much clearer perspective for people.
I then had to finally find what I enjoyed doing here online the most and that was so much trial and error. My love of helping people just goes way beyond just how to do things online. I truly want people to succeed in all areas of their lives so if one piece of advice I can give them will help, it was all worthwhile.
I love the quotes and I’m so happy that you have taken Tim’s advice and followed your love of writing. I so admire those who can write so well and I really enjoy reading stories that people are able to spin. Now that’s just pure talent.

Hey there Adrienne,
Thank you kindly, my friend. I truly am pleased that you enjoyed this post.
You know, I know exactly what you mean. When I started this endeavor of blogging I had absolutely no clue what I wanted it to become, but I think the fact that you and I simply begun is what steered us to our passion. Many people aren’t able to find their passion, because they just don’t start looking for it. Wouldn’t you agree?
I’d also say that you provide a lot of people with help through your work. I know you did for me. Expert or not, I think you are rocking your passion. It might not mean much, but I’m very proud of you; and even more proud to be connected with you. Your desire to see others aspire for their greatness and success is remarkable. It inspires me to each time I pay your place a visit.
Of course you know, I am head over heels in love with quotes. I know they’re not for everyone, but for me, the right one can shift my entire way of thinking. A great example and one of my faves is from Neil Patrick Harris or as we knew him as the young Dr. Doogie Howser, “When I’m sad, I stop being sad and be Awesome again. True Story.” Quotes like that bring me joy, laughter, and totally co-sign my way of thinking. That’s the power I get from a really good quote.
Thank you for the kind words and well wishes towards the blog and book. I really appreciate your support, Adrienne.
Hope you’re having a wonderful day as well. Cheers!
Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..Clear Up Your Vision
Indeed, Deeone. It’s a common misconception that one can achieve one’s dreams with simple affirmations and visualizations. It’s popular today to say that the Law of Attraction will do the rest. You know the truth… there is great power in clarity and taking action. Seek the truth, and it will bring clarity to our confusion, ending the delusion and the suffering, so healing may begin. Seeking the truth requires letting go of old habits of thinking, so extraordinary thinking may begin. Extraordinary thinking supersedes our old, ordinary way of thinking and elevates our consciousness and gives you a clear view of life, and ourselves.

I use to believe that I could get by with simply the affirmations and visualizing. I thought if I said it to myself enough that’s all it would take. Never applying a drop of action into the ingredient. I guess that’s what is said to be “wishful thinking”, huh?
I did a lot of that in the past. Nothing ever showed up, imagine that.
I’m constantly seeking out the truth though, Rob. I spend much of my day at the moment doing so. If I’m not writing, I’m reading or feeding my mind with something useful. It still gets cloudy here and there, but I believe that with dedicated action and consistent learning of new things, the clouds will continue to subside and the vision will be plain as a new day.

Hi Deeone
Great post here and I think you bring up one of the biggest stumbling blocks to getting what we want…not getting clear on exactly what that is! I know I struggle with that sometimes though I am getting better at refining my vision. Part of the struggle is getting through the uncomfortable feelings that pop up, such as doubt, trying to figure out how it will happen and fear of failing at it. The importance of action is also key, but not forced action. Inspired action led by intuition and coming from a place of lightness.
kelli cooper recently posted this awesomeness..Happiness: Choice or Chance?
You make some rather fantastic points, Kelli!
Many people don’t understand why their goals aren’t coming to fruition, and many never consider that it could very well be because they don’t have a clear idea as to what they really want to come of the goal. It makes it really difficult for us to know where we’re going if we aren’t clear of how we will get there, doesn’t it? I love how you mentioned that doubt, spending effortless time figuring out the how, and the fear of failure have been apart of the struggle for you. I too, have had my struggles with each of these. And like you said, I have continued to discover that intuition and action are the tools that extinguish those obstacles for me as well. Learning to hear and listen to my gut; while at the same time acting towards what I want to come of it.
Great thoughts, my friend. I really appreciate you sharing them here with me and the other readers.

great post as usual Deone
just keep it up : )
Hey Farouk,
Thanks for stopping by and also for the kind sentiments.
YES! I wholeheartedly agree, Deeone! These are such wise and useful words. I’d like to clarify, though, that a vision doesn’t necessarily have to equate with a career, I believe. You don’t talk about this in your post, but since your example is of your vision to be a writer, and many people speak about their vision in terms of one thing they want to do for the rest of their lives or for an extended period of time, it’s easy to believe that a vision *must* be like that. I like how Adrienne puts it — that her passion is helping people and the vision that ensues can be so varied and complex. It can be various visions, hundreds of them over the span of her life. We need to be detailed and clear, but I think we also need to be flexible to breathe life into a vision that can grow and change.
Also, I must politely disagree with you and Burl on one point here. =P I’m not sure if asking a lot of (good) questions is always helpful. I think this is a valid strategy and guide for many, maybe even the majority of people. But I think the opposite is equally wise: to ask less questions (or not questions at all) and be more observant. Maybe it’s a matter of knowing when to implement each strategy.
The idea of asking less questions came to me as a piece of advice from my uncle who is a successful businessman. He never fully explained why and I think he meant for me to experience the effects myself. Off the top of my head, I think the idea of asking less questions is tied to two major reasons: (1) asking questions taints your opinion, your thoughts, and your future questions, and (2) you can’t always expect someone to respond truthfully, whether they know it or not. The best way I can explain the second point is by marketing research — you never ask a person whether they like a product or not; they can lie or they might not know their preference when placed in certain situations. Instead, you have to observe.
Sorry to be so long winded here. =P Do let me know if I’m not making any sense at all and I’ll try again. =) In any case, I really appreciate the opportunity to reflect on all of this. Thanks so much, friend!
Samantha Bangayan recently posted this awesomeness..Racism in Peru? The Case of Ricardo Apaza
Hi Sam,
What a great response to the post, my dear! I understand wholeheartedly what you meant, and you gave so much to think about and consider.
I’m totally with you that having a clear vision… or a vision in general, isn’t exclusive in referring to ones career. I believe that we should have vision in many areas in our lives. I also think that we should constantly revisit our vision, making sure that it is aligned with our goals, as well as with the journey our lives might be taking us in. When we join relationships with our significant others there should be vision that we should compare with one another to make sure we’re on the same page.
Vision to me is having a clear line of sight to the desired destination one might have for themselves. There are many that only relate it to what they want to do career wise, but say a newlywed couple discuss their desire to have children in the future; that to me is a vision that put into the planning of their shared lives together. And yes, I do agree with you that vision should be flexible, open for growth and change. Much like our goals, I believe.
Now, I’ve never thought about the questions aspect in the sense you’ve mentioned here. However, you made a very valid point. I’d be naive to say that I ask a lot of questions myself. In most cases, I have steered away from asking just anybody questions, or asking random questions just for the sake of asking. But when it comes to not knowing, it’s always been wise to ask.
That doesn’t mean that I disagree with what you’ve shared, because I actually have had my own experiences where observing worked out entirely better than asking loads of questions. I guess it all depends on the situation, huh? I do like the points you shared here to solidify your opinion, and they each did just that.
I believe over time we get conditioned to not asking, even when we desire to know. In such instances, one could miss the opportunity altogether if waiting for an observation. What if you had a question and the answer you needed was time sensitive or the answer was going to be advice to help someone else out? Do you think those are instances where an individual should hold off asking?
I do however thank you for presenting a different view to the post. Your thoughts you shared offered me another way of looking at this. I would’ve loved to have gotten clarity to your uncle’s statement. He sounds like a very wise man, and people who possess such wisdom I can’t help but ask what they mean when they express certain things concerning best life practices.
You should never apologize here for your long comments to one of my post, my dear friend. I love them! And I couldn’t much reprimand anyone for having too long of a comment when my own are many post.
So if you’re ever moved to leave a lengthy feedback, you should definitely feel free to do so. I may not get to it right away, but you and my other readers should know that I read them and respond accordingly. Not only that, but I also appreciate them as well. Yours is a perfect example as to why this is the case.
So thank you, my friend for sharing your thoughts here with me. It’s always a pleasure.
Deeone recently posted this awesomeness..The 7 Links Challenge and The Tell Me About Yourself Award… Oh Dear!
Great point about revisiting our vision, Deeone! It’s such a delicate balance because we don’t want to be seen as someone who gives up on their dreams/goals/vision, but if the vision has truly changed, we have to be flexible enough to follow it. What’s so important is being able to truly interpret how we feel!
I also love your examples of when questioning is needed or when we might be keeping ourself back from questioning. That’s what we need to be careful of too! You’re so right, of course, those are the moments when we *should* be asking questions. It’s all about being able to determine the correct time — “correct” being something personal for each individual.
You know, I think my uncle *purposely* didn’t expand on his comment. He wanted me to learn for myself and I truly believe that it was part of his example of not asking so many questions. This reminds me of the Buddhist concept of meditation — you can ask all the questions you want, but you never fully understand until you experience, live through, and struggle with meditation itself.
Thanks for being so open to discussion, friend! =) I always learn tons here and I’m so glad we’re in touch. =)

I’ve had to revisit my vision/dreams/goals on several occasions since starting this journey as a blogger, as I’m sure you have. It’s constantly evolving, Sam. What I started out wanting to come from this has changed from time to time, and I’m certain that it’s not done changing.
I think many people mess up setting their goals in stone, without leaving any room for change. We live in a world that’s changing, so it’s wise to know that things concerning us will change as well.
I’ve changed how I go about asking questions. I used to hate it! Asking questions was never my strong suite because I would always seem to ask the wrong ones. Therefore never getting the right answer. I’m finding what you said to be true though, that it’s all in asking at the right time and with right question.
I can respect what your uncle shared with you and appreciate how he did it. He wanted you to know a truth, but he wanted you to have the experience of finding the truth out on your own. I don’t have to tell you how rare that is, most people will give you their truths; and you’re expected to take them at their word, right then and there. Your uncle showed me wisdom through you sharing what he shared with you. I loved the Buddhist concept, as well! That is rich with wisdom!
It’s for this very reason I stay open to discussions and point of views, because we truly never know what we can learn from others. And you have sharpened me on today, my friend. And I thank you for the sharpening!
It’s always a pleasure to hear from you!
Hi Deeone,
Some great points!
What hit home for me is the point you made about learning to ask lots of questions. I think that it’s one thing to have a dream or idea, but til we learn to look at it from other angles, we only can see it from one dimension.
Part of bringing a dream to life, by many “schools” of thought, is to make it REAL. Til we can begin to visualize things in the multifaceted and dimensional experience, it is too far off in the yonder for us to FEEL it as real.
Awesome insights!

That was a biggie for me too. I had to retrain my thoughts about asking. The fear of getting an answer outside of the one I sought, always deterred me from asking much of anything in my life. If I couldn’t do it for myself, or figure it out on my own, I would literally go without it. Imagine my surprise when I figured out much later in life how absolutely ludicrous that was. So now, I’ll tell anyone if you don’t know, ask. Even if you don’t get the answer you actually want, you’ll still get an answer. That answer will help you in making your next step. The next step could very well be going to the next person and changing the way you phrase the question.
The second part of your comment is just as true as the first part. We have to form a detailed vision or visualization in our minds to bring things that aren’t yet formed to fruition. In our minds is where all the magic happens. Begin to see it there first, and it then begins to take shape outside of our minds.
Loved it! Thanks for your contribution to the conversation on this.
