Thank your Doubters

by Deeone on November 18, 2011

I often find myself wondering about the worlds top celebrities and public figures; when they were the nobodies of the world; did the people closest to them and those that knew them in a more intimate way; could they have ever imagined that these individuals would one day become who they said they would become?

 doubters

People such as OprahTyler PerryWilliam Bill GatesWill and Jada Smith, Jennifer Lopez, Brad Pitt, Lil Jon, The President Barack Obama even, and the list simply could go on. Yet, when they were Random Joe’s and Jane’s, did they eventually have to leave some of their circles in their past to reach their goals of stardom and success?

I most certainly think they had too. There is no doubt in my mind about that!

Whenever they made up in their minds of who they wanted to become and told others what it was they were setting out to do; they more than likely had their fair share of doubters.

There was someone in the backseat of their lives that said, “Yeah, Right! Stick with your day job!”  Or they might have even heard some unbeliever chant, “That will never happen for you, dude!

Imagine for a minute what would have happened if those people who made their dreams come true, if they would have for one second believed those that didn’t believe in them.

Had they given up because the first or second individual that they shared this great epiphany with, told them that their dream was unattainable; they in fact would have never seen their dreams materialize. Nor would they have ever become who they are today.

So, in essence, here’s what I’m thinking, we should use our doubters to motivate us and thank them as well; and make a request that they just continue on doubting what seems only to them to be impossible. In releasing this method of dealing with your doubters it might just get you that much closer to your goals a bit faster; then it would have if they all believed.

There’s always doubter’s in this game. ~Shane Victorino

Great topic Deeone!

To me the people who try to hold you back from moving forward in your life are the people who don’t truly believe in themselves. They want you to remain on their same level. They may truly deep down inside not believe you can have what you want but that’s only because they’ve never been taught to shoot for the moon. It’s kind of sad actually.

You just have to be that person who says to heck with it, ignores what they say and goes for it anyway.

There is plenty of room on the moon Deeone, move on over! :-)

Hey Adrienne,

I’m glad you checked out this post. I also thank you for sharing those motivational words with me.

You’re so right about people who attempt to hold us back in life; they aren’t able to see the dream we possess usually because they’ve failed to go after their own. So, I’ve come not to fault those that don’t see my dream as I see it. It’s not theirs to see. It’s after all, my dream. :)

I have seen the light, my friend. Trust me when I say this; I won’t be giving any more thought to the ones that fail to push me along on this journey. There comes a time when we have to believe in our own dreams in order for them to begin to come true. If we’re constantly found acting towards our goals and dreams; the Universe will conspire to make it happen. Action is what pushes us along, not people. ;)

I’m on my way… packing my bags… next stop, THE MOON!! :D

…I’m going through that at this very moment–with people very close to me!! (!!!)

~~Some days it makes it very hard to keep going and to keep doing what I do. however it’s people like you and others who are in the “websphere community” who encourage me and motivate me to not give up. And like you said: I know that things will improve in great fashion in time, and when they do, I will contact all of my doubters and say in the nicest most sincerest way possible:

“Thank you!” :)

Great Post Deeone!

I’ve begun to look at it like this, Melisa. If we ever are able to figure out what it we want, realizing what we have is a dream, start to take action towards going after those dreams, and then have the audacity to focus and put on a little determination; we’re bound to adopt maybe two, three… or four haters and doubters along the way. Especially if they haven’t had the same ideas to hit them yet. People will po-po all over your dream if you allow it. In my opinion, the only way to allow people to do this is to not believe in our own dreams ourselves. If we believe in them, then what other’s think about our dreams won’t mean a hill of beans to us. We’ll simply use them as tools of motivation.

I’m so glad you enjoyed this post, my friend. And thank you for sharing this awesome release with me. :)

Hey Deeone,

Your post reminds me of Lance Armstrong: He was like ” I don’t have time to die, I need to figure out a way to live” – so he went out and won 7 championships in a row.
His doubter was “death” . Well he cheated “death”. That’s drive.

Thanks for the insight!

Hey Akos,

Thanks for the feedback man! :)

Lance is definitely one of my inspirations, as well. He defied the odds on so many things. His passion and drive is contagious! I hope for that same feeling when people hear my name spoken. When someone hear Deeone; I want them to think the guy that defied his odds with thinking positively and mastering his life. Then I want it to become contagious and other’s do the same exact thing with their own lives. That’s my goal; for my passion and drive to be contagious! :)

Hi Sonia!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this post with me, my friend. I totally agree with you that this is a very important process in the development of us changing our mindsets. I have often found myself wondering whether or not people really consider the things they put off and choose not to do, because of what other’s are thinking of them. But in order for us to achieve personal success, we must free ourselves from the ideas of what people think about us. It’s a very important part of the process, wouldn’t you agree?

Thanks for coming back through! :) It’s great to see you here once again!

Hey Sonia,

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the post, my friend. You’re absolutely right, that was definitely my intentions. I wanted to present another way of looking at those who can’t or choose not to see the potential in others. I truly appreciate your feedback on what you read here.

I am reminded of Brad Pitt telling his parents that he was moving to LA for one year to see if he could “make it” in show business. If not, he was going to move back to Springfield and get a “real job”. There were those who thought he was crazy! After-all, he was just a kid from Kickapoo H.S. who used to terrorize Skateport Roller Rink just like all the other middle school kids from the south side of town. How could he ever become a movie star? LOL.

That’s a great example there, Burl!

I’m a Brad Pitt fan myself… well I like his movies, anyway.

I had never heard that portion of his story before, but that’s exactly the kind of example I wanted to be considered when the reader read this piece.

I’m sure there have been many other’s, who may have heard people telling them that what they aspired to become was something crazy for them to invest time and energy into. Just think about what would have happened if Brad listened to those doubters, or if he would have even listened to the voice in his own mind (that I’m sure was speaking doubt) telling him, “Have you lost it? You’re from Springfield!”

Had he listened to either he would have never become Angelina’s husband! hahaha Joking. But you’re absolutely right… thanks for providing such an awesome example, my friend! Good stuff!
